About us

“How is it possible that in a country with humanitarian needs, an American-style stadium can be filled twice to see Karol G in concert?” That was the question the father of a friend from Peru recently asked us. The answer is what Venezuelan economist Asdrúbal Oliveros calls “the triple inequality”: Venezuela is not a flat, stagnant economy, but rather a series of overlapping realities—by region, by economic sector, and by income level—that coexist and contrast.

Understanding Venezuela today requires looking beyond the average—which in this country can hide more than reveal: observing the sectors that are growing, those that are sinking, and the regions that surprise. Here, there are oases of consumption, technological innovation, and dynamism that coexist with completely excluded areas. This is what drives us to uncover the phenomena that explain what no one is reporting: from dog funeral homes, passing through the guerrilla marketing competition between Arturo’s and KFC, to the success of brands like Socado and Pawer in a Lilliputian economy.

Welcome to Ecosistema: We are a specialized digital media outlet that combines rigorous journalism focused on business, economics, technology and innovation, and culture and society with a disruptive and visual style, to objectively and freshly report on the phenomena that define a market and society as fragmented as Venezuela’s. We shed light on dynamics and phenomena that others ignore, connect the local with the global through a bilingual approach, and offer useful, insightful, and conflict-free content to professionals, entrepreneurs, businesspeople, and specialists inside and outside the country. So, in this mosaic—overwhelmed by the surreal task of finding directions in a country where the sum of its parts fails to even form a whole—what better place to place our ecosystem than at the very center of that jungle?

Write for us

At Ecosistema, we’re looking for stories that explain how the market, innovation, and society are evolving—and reinventing themselves—in Venezuela and the region. If you have a lead, a profile, a provocative idea, or a phenomenon worth telling, pitch us at [email protected]. We’re interested in stories that reveal what others overlook and that help us understand the present with a critical and curious eye.

At Ecosistema, we’re looking for stories focused on business, technology, culture, and society in Venezuela or related to Venezuelans. We prefer pieces with a journalistic angle—based on observation, data, experience, interviews, cited sources, or specific findings—written in a clear, concise, explanatory, and conversational style. Our ideal reader is curious, informed, and discerning, but not necessarily an expert on the subject. Texts are typically between 800 and 1,200 words, and all accepted content will go through a rigorous editing and rewriting process with our team.
